Poetry

I’ve just finished marking your poetry analysis pieces.  Well done guys!

Although I am incredibly disappointed that not everyone handed theirs in…

Just a reminder that a good copy of a poem you have written is due in the first day back.

I can’t wait to read them!  I’ll be sticking them up around the room, so make them pretty!

Poetry Analysis

Here are the handouts I gave you about how to analyse poetry.  You can click on the images to make them bigger.

Haiku

A Haiku is a style of Japanese  poetry with 3 lines and 17 syllables.

The first line has 5 syllables, the second line has 7 syllables, and the third line has 5 syllables.

Here is an example:

Haikus are easy

But sometimes they don’t make sense

Refridgerator

Here is another example:

Falling to the ground

I watch a leaf settle down

In a bed of brown

Now have a go at writing your own!
